White and sore tongue that is not thrush? Hello! I was wondering....I am 13 years old, and my tongue is very white--it has like small white bumps on it--almost like raised white taste buds that are extremely, extremely sore and painful. It's been getting worse by the hour, and now my gums are hurting too. My parents originally thought it was thrush, but I looked at pictures of what thrush looks like on the tongue, and my tongue does not look like them. We assume (my parents and I) that this is a yeast infection of some sort as I have eaten a lot of carbs/sugar in the last few days, and my immune system has been weak, and I've been stressed out...the list goes on. Anyways, I hope I have not bored or confused you, but what do you guys think this is? Any ideas are appreciated! Thanks so much! K
Is this a healthy looking tongue, oral thrush? I was worried last week that I may have oral thrush, so I went to my school nurse and she said that I had normal looking tongue, and it was a little white because I was dehydrated. Here is a picture what do you think http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i38/tdmdxc/Photo12.jpg
Please look at this picture of my tongue and see if you know what possibly could be wrong. THRUSH OR WORST? Hello all. My tongue has been aching. The roof of my mouth is also sore. Do I have thrush? I seem to have thrush on my tongue but I can't quite tell. Near the back of my tongue I see a few blisters and there is a white coating over my taste buds. There are also small white specs on my tongue. When I looked at pictures of thrush I noticed the patches were a lot thicker. It doesn't hurt but I really want to get rid of it becuase its making me uncomfortable to know theres fungus growing on my tongue. It is about 2:30 in the morning right now and I can't sleep because of this. Does anyone know what my conditions are based on my simptoms? There is also a small red dot in the center of my tongue. Also, what should I do about this?
my tongue has a burning feeling ? but it only lasts about a day and then goes back to normal. it happens like once every two weeks and the back of the tongue looks like its coated with something white but it doesnt look the same as thrush in the pictures i see in the internet. what could this be? help! thanks for your suggestions. when i brush my tongue the coating disappears. it doesnt bleed and the surface doesnt look raw flesh or anything but it stil feels uncomfortable... on other days i feel just normal and then one day the burning feeling will return and i starts all over again! any other ideas?
Do i have thrush? Picture /symptoms included.? It is very mild, not a ton of buildup on the front of tonque...and it gets worse as it goes to the rear of my mouth. Here is what i have found. 1. It is absolutely impossible to get off of my tongue. I have tried fingernails, tooth brush (extremely hard scraping), q tips, etc. 2. It has the color of plaque i guess, whitish tan. The front of the tongue loks as though there are hundreds of tiny "colonies" of bacteria. I get more buildup as it goes to the back of my tongue. 3. I have had a somewhat dry mouth. Here is a picture of what my tongue looks like. The only difference is that mine is worse on the rear of my tongue. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h… My type of thrush is the picture that loads automatically, mild thrush.
Oral thrush in newborn baby? Does anyone had any experience in dealing with Thrush in newborn babies? My grandson is in Foster Care, and during our visit with him yesterday...we noticed that his tongue was completely white...it looked like a thick covering of chalk! It was also on his upper and lower lips. I have seen thrush before, but never this severe! I have also looked on the internet for pictures of thrush, and have found none that comes near to comparing to the severity of what is in my grandson's mouth!) The Foster parent stated that it had just started the night before. Is it possible for for thrush to get this severe within 24 hours?
White plaque on tongue (picture)? Hello I noticed yesterday I had a bit of qhite plaque on the tongue, after not brushing my teeth for a day or so. it looked very similar to this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/68/Fungal_tounge.jpg/450px-Fungal_tounge.jpg I normally am pretty good about brushing, but I'm worried this resembers thrush? Or is it just normal oral plaque?
Is it possible to have oral thrush for over 10 years and not realize it? I've had very bad breath since I was a child and nobody ever knew why. Recently I've been looking online and noticed some pictures of Oral Thrush. I've always noticed that I've had this one spot on the inside of my cheek that's always white, and I have a white coated tongue with a thick coating on the back that will never scrape off, no matter how hard I try. I also have some small splotches on my tongue that a doctor diagnosed as Geographic Tongue but now I'm thinking otherwise, since I saw a picture online that looks exactly like my tongue does. Is it possible for me to have this condition for 12 years without it getting any worse than it already is? i mean, I've always had the spots on my tongue, the coating on the back and the splotch on the inside of my cheek. I've ALWAYS had the nasty breath. The breath seems to be getting worse as time goes by so I'm really starting to wonder. Can you help?
My tongue feels like there's a hair or food on it, but there's not. It's also very white.. what is it The very back of my tongue has felt weird for 2 or 3 days.. like there's a hair back there or a piece of food stuck.. but there's definitely not. Now my tongue is really white back there and I can like scrape off the white stuff.. I looked up oral thrush, but my tongue doesn't really look like those pictures.. it's more of an all over coat of white, not spots. What might it be? I was recently on antibiotics followed by diflucan. I don't smoke or chew.
Mom is convinced i do not have thrush. But i know i do, and i have a lot of the symptoms. I have it don't i? Little white spots on tongue? My tongue has swollen up a little bit and is very red and sore. It also has little white pimples that is making it very hard to swallow and eat. I don't think it is oral thrush because it doesn't look like any pictures of it - anyone have any idea what it might be?
I have this weird white stuff on my tongue... help!? I brush my tongue regularly and it goes away for a bit but then it comes back again. I don't think that it's oral thrush because I looked at pictures and it seems to be patchy and spotted which mine isn't... I have white bumps at the back and a weird white film thing covering my tongue.... what is it? Help!
White sores on TONGUE? please help.? hi. i have 3 small, white bumps on the side of my tongue near the back. they kinda hurt. i noticed my tongue had a strange feeling while i was drinking a beer a few days ago, and i was wondering if it is possible that the beer caused the white bumps. if not, what else could it be? it is not oral thrush i just looked up pictures.
i have these strange white patches on the sides of my tongue....? i have these wife patches on teh sides of my tongue, i have tried looking for something on web MD, and i came up with Thrush...i looked up what thrush looks like and the pictures are definitely not what i have, i have small patches on the sides, they dont affect me in anyway, i dont have any bad eating habits, i dont drink or smoke they come off with a little force from my toothbrush but its annoying because ive never had it before, my breath doesnt stink either, and i dont have any weird habits like grinding my teeth at night, or chewing my tongue... WHAT COULD THIS BE??!?! oh and it doesnt hurt..
What's wrong with my tongue and throat? (Picture)? So i think it might be mouth thrush but i have a bad throat too and it looks horrible. Also that yellow mark? Heres the picture http://img20.yfrog.com/i/dsc00012nv.jpg/ What could it be? Thanks in advance.
Why is my tongue white? My tongue appears to have a white furry hair on it. It doesn't wipe away, when i wipe it, it gets whiter, and more hairy looking. It does not hurt, but it seems to cover my whole tongue. I guess it doesn't help that I have been smoking for two years. Here is a picture to better illustrate. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/davina01/hair333.jpg The bumps in the back have always been there. Does this look like a normal tongue, a white hairy tongue, or a tongue with oral thrush? I am going to the doctor later this week, and i just wanted some opinions. here is another picture, these pictures are taken with my cell...so the quality is not that great http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/davina01/3338064093_1268c19f1d.jpg I'm sorry if it looks strange :(

Do you think I have oral thrush? Take a look at these pictures I just uploaded. This is what my mouth looks like. There's a lot of gross looking stuff on my tongue that I have to scrape off but it just comes back. There are several white patches on the inside of my cheek. I noticed them a few days ago, scraped them off, and now they're back. These just formed today. http://www.flickr.com/photos/49781523@N06/
I have had a coating on my tongue now for about 2 months. It does not hurt (burns a little at times) no sores? no sores on my cheeks or in my mouth. I was concerned after seeing comments on what might be thrush. (which mine does not look like the pictures) but I went and had an HIV antibodies test done just to make sure. Came back negative. ENT said it was a yeast infection.I had an ATV accident that swelled the back of my head below my ears and now I have pinched nerves in my neck. Is this causing the dry mouth? Is it oral thrush? Do I need to take another HIV test?
White spots on tongue, 6+ months? http://www.assorted-lemons.com/tongue.jpg I have had these white spots on my tongue now for about six months, in about he same consistency. Because it has not spread past this, I do not believe it is thrush. I have tried using mouthwash and brushing my tongue on a regular basis, but these little buggers will not go away. Anyone have any ideas of what they might be, and how to get rid of them? (And yes, I'm sorry the picture isn't that good. The picture makes them look sort of yellow, but they are indeed white.)
I've got oral thrush symptoms...what do you think could be the cause? I went and got tested for all STD's including HIV and the results came back clean. I changed my toothpaste, washed with mouthwash... I've done pretty much everything to get rid of it but I still have a white tongue that just doesnt seem to go away. Should I go get a cancer screening? I always heard that having Oral Thrush symptoms were never a good sign and with STD's out of the picture, I can't think of what might be causing it. Any suggestions? I'm not taking any antibiotics. For the past 4 months I've been on a diet but haven't had oral thrush because of dieting. When I brush it and use a tongue scraper it will not come off..... Guess I'll just have to get the dr. to take a look considering I am HIV neg and STD neg
Problems on my tongue :(? Every doctor I've ever seen has no clue what this stuff is on my tongue. I've gone to WebMD and sites like that, but I can't find a single thing that accurately describes what this is, or even a picture that vaguely resembles it. I have a rather thick layer of white on my tongue, and most professionals want to call it yeast. The problem with that is that I've had it even when taking ultra-strong yeast medication, and even used a rough-edged tongue scraper, but it still stays. I've stayed off of sugars to avoid yeast (thrush), and I'd give my right arm to find out what is causing it. My secondary concern is whether or not this causes bad breath (who can tell if their own breath smells bad?). Isn't there a lab test that can be run to identify it? Any new ideas and/or suggestions other than what I've tried before are certainly welcome!
Can you Visit the ER for Oral Cancer Concerns? I am concerned about several issues i have that match up with oral cancer symptoms. Around 7 years ago i had a swollen throat with bumps making it hard to speak and swallow and also i have and still have large to small white bumps in the back of my throat. I was misdiagnosed with strep and giving amoxicillin which in the end i turned out to be allergic to...(resulting in almost sufficating and now i have bumps on my stomach and scaring resulting from the hives) and even with the other medications to relieve it, the problem kept reoccuring every other week or so. After the misdiagnosis, they re-diagnosed me with having mono. However, mono is similar to chicken pox and it is supposedly rare for an individual who already showed the illness to get sick from it again due to the gain of immunity...and yet even today i get the throat illness, like the other day. It sometimes lasts a week to 2 weeks. 3 years after first symptoms, i began to notice loosening of my teeth and because of fear of my teeth fallin out ive suffered from plenty of nightmares lol. I went to a dentist to see what was wrong, and they claimed my teeth were in perfect condition(which they arnt lol) Now a year ago, i noticed a patch on the left side of my tongue where the taste buds were like gone...and it felt numb. Soon a white patch appeared on the area, and its been there since. there are swallon taste buds around it. i was told it could possibly just be thrush, but it didnt match with pictures relating to thrush in my own opinion. So i have ignored it since, but recently, they have been sore and a circular spot has appeared on the right side now and there was a small cut or somethin across the white patch that hurt alot. I dont smoke nor do i drink, but i grew up around 2nd hand smoking. I also had a condition when i was little and until recently where i would chew at the inside of my cheeks unconciously when i felt nervous, stressful, and when i was feeling anxiety. I read on many sites and in a few medical books that changes(sores, cuts, etc) or irritation can also lead to the development of oral cancer however it is more rare under those circumstances...But ive been doing it since i was a toddler and i am now 20 years old so that doesnt really look good. My cheeks are covered in white scarring and bumps. When i feel around with my tongue in my mouth, the saliva glads have a coppery sensation on my tongue. When i eat certain foods, especially breads, my mouth gets bumps and feels extremely sore. My gums are also white in alot of places and i have bad teeth in the first place beause i lacked insurance for a while, and couldnt afford a doctor or dentist(no dentists in town accept pple without insurance and only one accepts medicaid so its hard to get in anyways) under my tongue, where the gland or duct or w/e is, there is a lump on the right side bottom of my mouth. Also, 3 years ago, i also had an accident where i got hit with a golf ball on my upper lip and it split open. its healed, but scared badly and when i get dry lips, the wound reopens, even tho its been so long. its resulted in a bad scar. And i heard when i was in hs, a wound that does not heal is not a good one, as it often is a symptom of cancer. Also, recently ive had back neck problems as if someone was dragging a razor across the back of my neck. I was prescribed muscle relaxers and pain relievers, neither of which even have any effect on me. i also suffer really bad headaches from unknown causes...no store bought medicines have helped releave the pain not even naproxen. i had a ct scan done on my neck and head and they said it was perfectly fine. In the past, when i first had the throat problems, i had a ct scan and they also said i was fine. they also couldnt figure out the cause of my high heartrate that rapidly rises when i move leading to blackouts. that issue was olong ago forgotten when i lost insurance. (i have medicaid now) Ah sorry for talkin so much... basically, can i visit the ER to get my tongue n such looked out. a visit to the dentist will take a month to 3 just to get an appointmet.(my mom had to wait 4 months even tho she had a bad tooth infection that made her sick) Ive tried to set up a dentist appointment recently but they said it could take up to a month or so, and if its anything bad i already let it go on for years now...so i kinda dont wanna wait that long. also theres no chance of it being an std. ive only been with one partner whome is my fiance. They didnt really do anything and barely let me talk in the first place, but they gave me a prescription for Nystatin swish n swallow mouthwash style medicine..
Why wont the white spots in my mouth go away? Well im not a baby neither an adult nor a senior. Ive got alot of white on my tongue on both sides, but not on the roof of my tongue or the roof my mouth or on the bottom of my mouth. Its been a couple months and im worried. Its on my cheeks and the sides of the mouth but inside. Now the doctor told me it looks like thrush and proscribed to me Nystatin, that didnt help and then he gave pills, that didnt work. i also got my blood taken to see if its my sugar levels and blood is normal. Im not sure what it is and neither is that doctor. What can it be? Is it contagious? How can i get rid of it? its extremely annoying and i got it out of no where. I dont smoke, drink or do anything bad for my health at all. Is it a lifetime thing? :[ i saw pictures of what oral thrush is and it does not look so serious as adults have or the way it looks on babies.
What do I have? Help! Picture!? Is this Thrush? Geographic Tongue? This is starting to burn and I've had it a week. I had Thrush around 4 months ago, but it when away with Nystatin. I'm Anemic and don't take medicine for it because it hurts my stomach. I don't know if that will help you or not. I'm 17 years old, female, not sexually active...so it cannot be any type of STD Thanks http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l105/pheely4ever985/?action=view&current=0624001946a1.jpg http://s94.photobucket.com/albums/l105/pheely4ever985/?action=view&current=0624001946a1.jpg

Canker sore, dead tastebuds, high fever, AND a sore throat all at once? Oh gosh...I wasn't sick AT ALL on New Years Day. I stayed in the night before. I don't drink, didn't eat anything out of the ordinary. In fact, I went to bed early. Everything was okay until around dinner time on New Years Day and then I developed a horrible horrible fever around 103 out of the blue. My teeth chattered from how cold I was, and then I'd get so hot I thought I was going to burn up in the sun. The next day I started feeling a sore throat. Fever was still high. I noticed a white bump on my bottom lip right where the two meet. Come Saturday my fever was closer to 104 so I went to the emergency room (clinic not open on weekdays). My tongue is hurting and I notice there are 3 red spots that feel the way dead taste buds do, THREE at once...this never happens to me. The white spot on my lip has gotten even larger. I assume it's just a canker sore, but what gives? My sore throat is horrible today. I go to the doctor and they tell me my fever went down to 99.6. Fair enough, I had kept taking tylenol for it. They said there is nothing they can do about my lip, and my throat looked like raw meat even though I'd only had a sore throat for less than a day--so even though I don't have strept throat, they gave me anti-biotics and a drink of a steroid. It's now Sunday and my tongue hurts like a bitch. The bump seems to be either getting bigger or just not getting smaller on my lip, and my throat is as sore as ever. The real kicker is that I haven't been this sick since I was 5 (14 years ago). I don't get sick easily and I had no symptoms and then all of a sudden it hit me like a train. I don't smoke or drink so it is really freaking me out (never smoked, never been drunk). Has anyone had anything similar happen to them? I'm scared and I have to go back to work tomorrow--not to mention I look like a monster lol. Or any ideas what it could be? I don't think it's thrush and the canker sore thing I HOPE that's what it is, but it just looks worse than the ones in the pictures.
