Other then thrush is there any other reason why a babies tongue might be white? My daughter has a very white tongue, at first the doctors said it was just milk, after 2 months it did not change so the doctors then concluded it might be thrush. They gave me medication but it didn't change anything. I am breastfeeding, has anyone else experienced a white tongue not due to thrush? She does not have any white patches on her gums or cheeks, my breasts feel fine, and she has had a white tongue since the first few days in the hospital.
Is this white patch on my babies tongue thrush or formula...? I am a new mom and nobody told me to clean my babies tongue everyday...I breastfeed but sometimes my childs father would give him formula...he has a white patch towards the back of his tongue.....i tried a cloth to wipe it out but it is still there.....he feeds fine no problem i see as of yet....my nipples look normal.....i do feel a wierd sensation though but i think its because he only sucks my nipple and does not take in more of the breast....but no pain while feeding him....I dont know if I should be concerned , advice from anyone would be wonderful....
Cleaning babies tongue with thrush? March 11th my 5 week old son had his checkup and I mentioned to the dr his tongue is white, she looked and told me its the beginning of thrush aND prescribed nystatin. I had my check up the next day (I don't have signs of thrush on mynipples but just for prevention) and my OB prescribed Diflucan. His tongue since then seems to have gotten whiter and more thicker I clean before I give him the drops and as often as I can but it still looks the same. Is it normal for the drops to take time to make his tongue less white?DoI clean his tongue and try and scrap it off or just gently? He doesn't show any signs of discomfort when nursing or while I'm cleaning it.Sorry if I'm not making any sense... lol
Is it normal for a baby with thrush for his tongue to bleed? My baby has thrush and has been on antibiotics for 2 days now,I was told to rub the meds on his tongue with a q-tip and drop the rest in his mouth. When I rub it on his tongue there is a few little spots of blood.I see my doctor again tomorro but I was just wondering if this was normal?Thank you.
I am breast feeding and I think my baby has thrush on tongue!? I am breastfeeding my 6 week old and I noticed a white patch with some rounds bumps on her tongue. Is this thrush and if so how is it treated?
Cure for thrush on the tongue of an adult? I have thrush on the inside of my mouth. I know it is thrush because my babies have had it before. I got it from getting my tongue pierced and over rinsing with listerine. Are there any cures for thrush besides going to a doctor. I have use gentain violet and it did not work. I used it for 4-5 days straight and the thrush still camr back. It is only on my tongue it is not on the insides of my cheeks or anything.
3 week old baby has thrush on her tongue? Ped. told me my 3 week old has thrush on her tongue, could it be that this is why she is uncomfortable most of the time and always trying to eat, she never seems full, the ped. told me its cuz her tongue is itchy and she feels relief when the bottle nipple is in her mouth, but this is causing her to over feed. Also what could have caused this? is it true that it could be from her sterilizer machine I use to boil the bottles and nipples?
thrush on baby tongue? I have a 5 week old baby girl and she have thrush on her tongue only. The doctor gave me some medicine called nystatin to give her four times a day. So I went on line and pulled it up and it said that you and baby can pass it back and forth to each other if your breastfeeding and that i am. It also said if your having burning and pain in you breast you might have the thrush in your breast duds and i think i have it. My doctor didn't tell me that it could spread to my breast. If anyone out there experience this problem let me know what happened and what you did to solve the problem.
How can I remove the thick thrush on my baby's tongue? I think that's the one causing my baby to refuse feeding..I tried a while ago to remove but can't.. His pedia when he was a week old, didn't tell us about cleaning tongues. Just when I change to another pedia, she told us to clean. He was already 2mos.
Why does my baby have yellow on his tongue? Thrush? I have noticed that he has a yellow coloring on his tongue. I cleaned it with a finger brush thing and a couple days later it is back. Is this just milk? Could it be thrush? He doesn't have any spots that I can see on his cheeks which I thought you would see with thrush. He has an apt later this week so is it okay to wait until then to ask the doctor? He is 11 weeks and breastfed
Thrush on Baby's tongue? My baby daughter is two months old. And I think she have thrush on her tongue. She been having it since two weeks after her birth. I want to know how to get rid of it. It is seriously making her not comfortable.
Anyone with experience of tongue tie in a baby or thrush while breastfeeding? I am exclusively breastfeeding my 17 day old daughter. It hasn't been an easy journey so far as she was born with a tongue tie. This was causing me pain and damage to my nipples. However, the tongue tie was snipped yesterday. I was hoping the feeding would be better today but it's still been painful. I've sought help today and got different opinions on the cause. My midwife thinks I've got thrush on my nipples. However there is no sign of thrush in baby's mouth. I have treatment for me but not my baby. But if only I am receiving treatment will me and baby not keeping passing to back and forth to each other? A breastfeeding counsellor thinks that the baby just needs to get used to using her tongue properly and that the pain will soon improve. I'm very confused! Has anyone had thrush while breastfeeding? What did it feel like? Did both you and your baby receive treatment? How long did it take to work? Or has anyone had a baby with tongue tie which was corrected? How long after the procedure did it take for your baby to start feeding well again? Any other experiences/ advice appreciated!

Has anyone heard of wiping a baby's tongue with his diaper so the urine can get rid or prevent thrush? My grandmother came to visit me today and she noticed my son's tongue was white (from the formula) and she told me when he pees to wipe his tongue with his diaper. Of course I'm not going to do that cause thats just gross. But she said the acid in the urine will get rid of the white tongue. Has anyone heard of this before?
My 6 week old baby has Oral thrush. Her tongue is now completely white with little specs of green and blue? I am taking her into the Dr's tomorrow but I was just wondering if anyone has heard of or seen this before? She has had it since she was 2 weeks and the Dr. put her on an antibiotic Nystatin and it seemed like she was getting better but now It looks terrible. She has also been very moody crying for no reason and her poop has been a very dark green color and she screams bloody murder when she has to poop. I am worried that the thrush has moved into her intestines. If anyone knows anything about this or what it could be I would really appreciate it.
My babies tongue is white? My baby's tongue is white from feeding, I am breastfeeding so I thought it was thrush (a yeast infection) but when I went to the doctor he said I do not have any breast infections. Is this normal for the baby's tongue to be white?
Can thrush only be on the tongue? I was looking at my daughters tongue and she has a lot of white patches on it. There aren't any more anywhere else in her mouth, just her tongue. I was reading online that its normally not just on the tongue, but when I wipe hers, it doesn't wipe off. She eats well still, but I am wondering if any of your babies have had it and it was just on the tongue?

''Tears'' left in tongue after thrush? When I was a baby I got a case of thrush which left ''tears'' in my tongue. Is there a way to heal these ''tears'' now so that my tongue looks normal?
Why does my baby has a yellow tongue? Just noticed that my (happy, giggly) baby has a yellow patch I can't rub off on his tongue. Is it thrush or something else?
Have you ever heard of wiping a baby's tongue with a wet diaper to get rid of thrush? My son has thrush and my MIL suggested we take off his wet diaper (obviously wet with urine) and wipe it across his tongue to get rid of the thrush. At first we thought it was milk on his tongue so I kept trying to wipe it off with a warm wash cloth. But my husband was at home with our son on Monday and said he didn’t seem interested in eating. He took him to the doctor and they said he has thrush and prescribed some antiobitics. He also had a mild fever and has slight diarreah. A few weeks ago, my MIL said, “I know what will get the white stuff off his tongue, but you aren’t going to do it so nevermind!” I told her to elaborate and she did but she was right … I was not interested. This sarcasm is not uncommon. She has been doing this every since I had the baby. It annoys her that will not follow, and do not want to hear, her old wives tales. Her latest strategy is to cram my husband’s head full of stuff so he can pass it along to me. So, in an essence, she’s still getting her point across and putting in her two cents, but she’s not telling me directly. My husband said his mother suggested we wipe that diaper across his tongue several times yesterday. She said she did this to him and her granddaughter (which her parents basically let my MIL raise her as she pleases so it’s no surprise). I just snapped my mouth shut and changed the subject. She can’t seem to respect the fact that I don’t want to put urine in my baby’s mouth. Has anyone ever heard of this?
My baby is 2months old now and has developed thrush on her tongue..has anyone else's child had this and what? did you do to cure it. The doctor gave me some antifungal medicine to give to her. I've been giving it to her for 3 weeks now and its still there. If anyone can help,im thankful.
thrush in babies? im very worried. i believe my son may have thrush, and from what i hear it is very hard to get rid of. he's 16 days old and has a white film across his tongue. also, ive noticed that my nipples have been very sensitiv today and yesterday. it's just since yesterday i noticed his mouth was a little white but i didnt even know what thrush was until my mother in law mentioned it. is it something i should be very concerned about? and the longer you let it go, will it get worse? just wondering because my dr is closed tomorrow, its a holiday here in canada. im a first time mom with little experience and im just concerned for my little ones health. any info, tips or experience with this would be very helpful. i dont know what to do!
How did you treat your baby's thrush? Was it effective? How long did it take to work?? My 7 week old has thrush on his tongue and I've been giving him the Nystatin that the doc prescribed for over a week but his tongue looks exactly the same!
is it common for a baby to have thrush in his mouth? my baby is six month old now. he is lealthy with no problem. but when he was two months, i notices some thick white thrushes on his mouth specially on his tongue. i used Nistatine to clean them and then they gone. But i was just reading an article which was about autistic babies with candida and yeast infections. I do not know if these thrushes was also a kind of thoses candia or not? please help.
How long it take for thrush to clear up in a infant? He don't have it bad it's just on his tongue. The doctor prescribed him Nystatin but I don't see any results and it has been 9days since he been taking the medcine. Should I give it some more time. Also how do a baby get thrush? The says it's normal infants?
how many of your babies had oral thrush? Hey. My baby is 5 weeks old, and has had this white stuff on her tongue and cheeks, and i think her mouth is sore, cuz she doesn't always like to eat. Im sorta paranoid now, since I read on the internet that oral thrush in infants can be a sign of hiv infection, and Im scared I may have given my baby it. I don't know if I have it or not. I want to go get tested soon, but its still kinda early. Should I be concerned about this, or is oral thrush normal for new borns, and have your babies had it? any advice thanks.
What does baby thrush look like? My baby's tongue has been completely white or blotchy white since this morning. He was fine all day but for the past half and hour he has been whining like he's uncomfortable. I thought it was formula on his tongue.. i was wondering if its normal for formula to stay on the tongue or could it be some kind of infection like thrush :(.
My tongue is white, swollen, and tender! Do I have thrush? I went to my doctor yesterday and she said it is highly unlikely that I have Thrush because of my age. I'm a 17 year old female. I was on Flagyl for a vaginal yeast infection (and previously on Levaquin for a kidney infection) Now, I've developed a white, swollen, tender tongue, I've had this since Thursday. What else could I have if it is not Thrush? She looked at it and said I have something but Thrush is more common in babies. She went through the whole asking if I do drugs, drink, have sex, etc. And I don't. What is this? She gave me Nystatin and I've taken it three times since yesterday and it seems like its getting worse! Help! Thanks She said she doesn't know what it is and I have to go back in two weeks for lab work. She said it is a possibility that it is only Thrush..but idk
Is it thrush when baby is Coughing and choking a bit? Her tongue is a bit white and she is fussy when she breast feeds (doesn't feed as long). She sticks her tongue out too. My other half says she is just discovering her tongue and likes to stick it out. Why the choking? Could it be mucous or phlegm?
Only baby has thrush, will I get it too? My baby has very mild thrush, only on his tongue, and not very thick. I am pumping and have been for a while. I want to get him back to the breast but am afraid that he'll give me thrush again. Is it possible for him to give me thrush? I haven't breastfeed him in a month, do you think it'll be hard to get him back on?
Does my 1 week old have Thrush? I'm currently breastfeeding my newborn (he's a week and a half old) but also supplementing with formula -- My Mom mentioned to me today that she suspects he has thrush because his tongue looks white - this never occurred to me because I just assumed it was milk left on his tongue... do your babies have white-ish tongues because of milk? Becaue I'm feeding him every 3 hours - I assumed the white never really had time to go away...? HELP!
my 2 1/2 wk old has thrush...did nystatin drops work for your babies? shes beens so fussy and cant seem to get sleep...my doc started her on nystatin how long does this thrush usually take to clear up? its just on her lil tongue. thanks ladies! also will infant tylenol drops help with any of the discomfort shes having?
Why does my 10 week old son stick his tongue out so often? I know babies are always pulling faces and things but he constantly sticks his tongue out! It looks like he's trying to push something out of his mouth even when theres nothing in there! People have actually commented on how often he does it! I never seen a baby do it that much before! He had thrush and I thought that was why he was doing it but it's well cleared up now and he still does it! I know this probably sounds silly but i was just wondering?
Can a baby get thrush even if they do not have a yeast infection? My friends 7 month old has a white coating on her tongue, she does not have any kind of diaper rash or yeast infection and does not use the bath water to clean her mouth and teeth. She is formula fed and has just started on solids such as avacado, banana, rice, prunes and sweet potatoes, could this be the cause?she does seem to be a little more fussy drinking and is drinking less but I am pretty sure that is due to starting solids.
My three year old has had a white film on her tongue? My three year old has a white film on her tongue that cannot be wiped away. She has had it for about a week and has no other symptoms. She had thrush as a baby and it looks the same as that but I thought that could only occur in babies. Any advice would be much appreciated.
How can you get rid of thrush ? My baby has these white spots on her tongue I was told that it is called thrush ? Could that be painful to her ?
Has anyone ever heard of this old wives tale? Allowing a baby to look in the mirror will make it hard for them to teethe. I am SO sick of hearing my MIL's old wives tales. First it was: Allowing a baby to look over their head will make them cross eyed. Wiping a urined diaper on a babies tongue will get rid of thrush. There are others but I won't even go there!
do babies get dhydrated from formula? is it safe to give him formula and water? ? I breast feed, but my milk is not coming in alot so my doctor advised me to use formula as well. Ever since, i have been having problems! my 3 weeks old is constipated! how can i help him? he has thrush on his tongue! How can i help him with that as well? My husband thinks he might be dehydrated as well from all the formula.. should we give him alittle water??
Can thrush be painful for baby? Last night my daughter started this weird thing of not really eating in the early evening. This continued all the way until bedtime where I think she began to become increasingly hungry but still wouldn't eat. Every time I would go to feed her she would gag and choke a little (shes breastfed) and it looked to me as if she was in pain. She does have a thick white patch on her tongue, could this be thrush and is thrush painful? It's her mouth that seems to hurt Either way shes seeing the doctor today. I almost brought her to the er last night but I finally got her to sleep so I figured I'd wait and let her doc see her this morning. And I read online that mom or baby recently being on antibiotics can cause thrush, I just ended antibiotic treatment for an infection in my uterus.
If I'm using Gentian Violet, how can I tell if my baby's thrush is gone? I've been using it for the past four nights, and it turns her entire mouth purple. I've read that it should get rid of the thrush in 3 to 4 days, but her tongue is still purple when I go to put it on the next night, so how do I know when it's finally gone away?
Does my baby have thrush? I think my little guy has thrush. His tongue is white and it won't wipe off. He seems to be very crabby. Do they get crabby from it? I'm a new mom and just want to make sure I'm not making a big deal of nothing before I take him to the doctor. I made an appointment. I definately think he has thrush. Luckily I am not breastfeeding!
What does thrush look like in a babys mouth? Does it look like a white coating on the tongue or curdles? I have seen both, and my baby has the white coating, but it is not curdles... its just a white coating. Does that mean he has thrush? I am going to the DR on Monday, but just want to know.
I think my baby has thrush. How can I tell? My baby will be 7 weeks tomorrow and his tongue is white like it has milk caked on. Also Saturday I noticed that in small spots inside his mouth it looks as if the skin has peeled off a little. He doesn't act like it hurts but I'm not sure. Is taking him to the doctor the only way to tell? What are some symptoms of thrush if there are any and how is it treated?
Is it normal for thrush to spread to a baby's lips after being on antibiotics for 6 days? My friends daughter has thrush and has been on antibiodicts for 6 days now,her tongue and cheeks have cleared up but now her lips have the same white coating on them???Is this normal? She is still very fussy taking the bottle and doesnt want to eat any solids still, she is 6 and half months old. She gives her yellow stuff called Nystatin, she is not sure if it is antbiodicts! :( I will look it up on the net thanks! Yes it is an antibiotic used for yeast infections. baby is allergic to dairy so no yogurt. she is bottle fed not breast fed anymore
Why does my baby have a white spot on her tongue? My 3 month old has a white spot on the tip of her tongue. It looks like a white head. My mom suggested thrush, but it's just the one little spot. Any ideas?
Thrush or Milk Tongue? My 6 week old son, who is exclusivly breastfed, had a thick white coating on his tongue only. It did come off last night with a baby finger tooth brush but not all of it and no sores or bleeding.....then when he woke up this morning the front half of his tongue was clear of the white stuff completly but the way back of his tongue is stil covered. He has no diaper rash, is eating all the time as usual and isn't really fussy or acting like his mouth is sore.....should I be worried? My nipples aren't sore either. I'm taking him to the pedi tomorrow to be safe but can anyone help from experience? I just finished antibiotics for a sinus infection also. Also he has had this "milk" on his tongue since about two weeks old but in the past few days it has become thicker and more apparent when he opens his mouth. Thank you! I didn't thumbs down you :)
what can i do my baby has thrush im taking her to docs today what causes it i dont breastfeed? i dont know what has caused my seven week old daughter to get lumps of white on her tongue will the doctor be discusded
My 2 year old has a thick white thing on tongue...? He has a really bad cold, an eye infection (i think) and white on his tongue it looks like thrush could it be on such an old child? My kids had it as babies but.... I'm taking him to the doctor soon just want to know what you think thanks. Yes he does like his milk has a lot. Why would it be mono?!
There is a faint white spot on my baby's tongue? Could this be the beginning of thrush or just a swollen taste bud? It's slihtly raised... She is being breastfed & is now 12 weeks.
Could it be thrush? My 7 week old baby has the flu. He coughs, sneezes, and recently lost his voice. His tongue is getting white dots on it now. Could he be getting thrush and is it common to get thrush for babies when they have the flu
Is there home remedies for thrush?? My baby is only 7days old, and has a white tongue. Is this thrush? If so what are some home remedies that would be safe for him to do. Also I think it may have already gotten into my one breast, home remedies for that too. Thanks! I believe that I may be infected too because, it burns and hurts really bad when he feeds from my left breast, position is right, and everything...It doesn't rub off of his tongue.
how do i clean my baby's tongue? my almost 2 month old is formula fed, and there is a lot of white buildup on his tongue and it smells kinda foul like a shoe; the doctor said it looked normal and not like oral thrush; but it never goes away and seems so thick and the smell...is there anything i can do? i use a baby gum massager to try to loosen it, but he gags of course, and doesn't give up the tongue :) his mouth is too little to really get at it. what can i do?
Oral Thrush? How can i treat my baby's thrush on his tongue? I am calling the doc tomorrow morning, but i just wanted to know if there is something i should be doing until then...
Question about thrush in breastfed baby? I noticed that my baby's tongue is white and its more towards the back. Today after I fed her, using a nipple shield, in the back of her mouth her gums are also whitish. I have been pumping and feeding with a bottle for 10 days now because of severe nipple cracks and my right side is not healing very well. If I have thrush could my baby still be getting it from the pump? I'm going to call her pedi tomorrow to have her look at her but I didn't know if my milk would be "contaminated" because of me having thrush.
any suggestions on cleaning your baby's tongue. When it is covered with a white, thick coat of milk on it. baby doctor, said "it is no thrush because it is not no where else inside or out her mouth just on the tongue" suggesting it probably milk.
Baby has had thrush for over a month...? Doc had him on Nystatin first, but didn't work so we moved to Diflucan. That cleared up most of it-but not all of it.Doc couldn't prescribe anymore of it as he was afraid of hurting the liver by keeping him on it for longer than 2 weeks.Thrush ended up coming back,he had me scrape the baby's tongue(I know that's not the normal treatment). It worked-the thrush came off but we've been doing it daily for 3 weeks.Today we went to the doctors&he said the thrush is in the back of the mouth where its hard to scrape,so back to Diflucan(he's been off it for a month now) for 2 weeks. Doc said if the thrush doesn't clear up we are going to test for immune disorders because he can't fight this off.I asked what that means & what treatments are-he said we'd cross that bridge when we come to it. What would the immune disorders be?The only thing I found online was that he could have SCID (Boy in bubble) or diabetes. The baby is 2 months old today. I've been boiling bottles/nipples/binkys for 5 minutes & they sit in a drain board that I use ONLY for the baby's things. I'm formula feeding him with Soy-as he's allergic to milk-using Similac Soy in the bottle. Should I switch to powder? Should I boil more or differently?
White stuff on baby's tongue? My baby has a milky film over her tongue and her doctor saw it and said, Oh she has a little milk on her tongue". It has not gone away but has not gotten worse. I looked it up and all I could find was thrush. But her tongue looks nothing like the photos and she has none of the symptoms. Could it be something else? It just looks like a layer of milk just on her tongue. kelsey: See..it dont look anything like that.. i just wiped with washcloth and it came off. :)
Baby thrush medication? My 2 1/2 month infant has thrush (white spots on tongue). I'm trying to find the medicine called Gentian Violet. However, it's not that easy to find. I've tried CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart. Does anyone know specifically where I can find this product please?
what is this white stuff on my baby's tongue? is it formula or thrush? and what causes it??? its a lot and i dont know if i should be concerned about it. i take a wash cloth and try to wipe it out when she lets me but it just seems caked on there. any answers would be nice.. thank u.
Thrush....does it hurt? I thought my baby had milk build up on his tongue but turns out he has thrush. Doctor gave us a prescripion for Nystatin drops that we have to give him 3-4 times a day. He has been a real grouch lately. Did anyone else's baby have thrush and did it effect the baby's mood? How long did it take to go away after you started the medication?
white mouthed baby, not thrush so says doctor? My daughters tongue an lips get so white from the formula, the pedi said its not thrush, but its getting thick on her toungue an i dont think she likes the feeling. what can i do?
Thrush in Baby's Mouth? My 7 and half week old son has little white patches on the inside of his lower lip and his tongue. A neighbour noticed them this evening and said its thrush and I should take him to the doctor. The problem is, our surgery won't be open now till tommorrow morning - is it urgent enough to call the emergency doctor or will he be OK till tommorrow morning? He doesn't seem to be in any pain or discomfort and he's breastfeeding ok. Also, if my baby has thrush will I have any symptoms? I'm breastfeeding and I've noticed my nipples are a bit sore and itchy - is this because of the thrush?
Is this thrush?? Today I noticed that my 3-month-old has white spots all over the tip of her tongue. I thought it was milk curds but I couldn't brush them away, so I immediately realized it was probably thrush. However, I looked up "thrush" on a baby care website and in my What to Expect the First Year book, and they both say that thrush occurs mostly on the insides of the baby's cheeks, but there are no spots on the insides of my baby's cheeks; only on her tongue. There's also some white residue on the inside of her lower lip. By the way, I had her c-section, so there's not much of a chance that she could have "caught" the yeast by going thru the birth canal (my sources explained that this is most often how babies get thrush). Do you other moms out there have any ideas? Could it still be thrush anyway? And what can I do about it? Thanks!!
Fluconazole as treatment of thrush in infants mouth? My 7 weeks old baby boy has a trush in his tongue for a while now. I took him to his pediaterician about 15 days ago and prescribed Nystatin. Since I did not see any improvment, I called the doctor back and he prescribed him Fluconazole that needs to be taken for 13 days. Does anybody used this as treatment for trush in the mouth? How effective was it?
infant thrush symptoms? I have a 7 week old son- He has had a thin layer of white on his tongue since birth, it now seems a bit thicker and the color has changed. He has also started having some digestion issues and im wondering if they are connected? Any input is wecome.... Could this be thrush? What are signs and sympyoms of thrush? Natural remedies? Also baby is only breast fed and uses a binky.
how long does it take for baby's thrush to clear up? My 5 week old has been taking Nystatin for a week so far, her thrush (on her tongue) looks like it has decreased, but it is still clearly there. How long is it suppose to take to clear up? I thought it would be gone by now. I got it in my milk ducts too, but the Dyflucan took care of it, I really don't want to get it back, and hope her's goes away so we don't keep reinfecting eachother. I am doing the other recomended stuff too (vinager, washing clothes in hot water...), and will call the Dr if nothing changes in a few days.
eczema vs thrush? My 6 wk old son has these tiny little bumps all over his face, head and back of neck. I think it itches him cuz he's always trying to rub his face. at first it was just a few scattered over his face and head and the nurse told me that its baby acne, and not to put anything on it it. I closely watched this for about a week and it started to progress and make him uncomfortable to a point where I had to go in to see the Dr. who said that it is eczema and odered pramasone (a topical cream) for it. Others who have had babies think that it is thrush, and that he should also be taking something oral. What has me concern is the fact that I heard that thrush makes the tongue white. My son's tongue is white. Has anyone's kid experience similar problem, and if so what was used to treat it.
Oral thrush in newborn baby? Does anyone had any experience in dealing with Thrush in newborn babies? My grandson is in Foster Care, and during our visit with him yesterday...we noticed that his tongue was completely white...it looked like a thick covering of chalk! It was also on his upper and lower lips. I have seen thrush before, but never this severe! I have also looked on the internet for pictures of thrush, and have found none that comes near to comparing to the severity of what is in my grandson's mouth!) The Foster parent stated that it had just started the night before. Is it possible for for thrush to get this severe within 24 hours?
5 week old baby...thrush? My little man is 5 weeks old today. I took him to get a blood test today and the nurse said she thought he had thrush. I took him straight to the Dr and he said he did have thrush and prescribed some oral drops. Does anyone know how long it takes for the thrush to clear up? I feel awful because I didn't know (I thought it was milk on his tongue) and had stopped breastfeeding him because it was agony on my nipples-I assume this is due to the thrush? Any advice would be great.
Baby has thrush. Doc doesn't want to treat it? My baby is 13 weeks old and has had thrush for 10 weeks. Its just on her tongue and hasn't spread to her cheeks, gums, or the roof of her mouth. The doc says he doesn't treat it unless it spreads or makes feeding difficult. It doesn't seem to bother her but its not clearing on its own. Has anyone had a similar issue where the doc didn't treat it? How long did it take to go away? It sure is ugly.. LOL... Thanks!
Infant is 2 months old & has thrush since he was a month old.Was on Diflucan but it didn't clear up 100%... then Dr had me scrub tongue to clear it up(I know not a popular method but it did work a bit on the front of the tongue...but not the back, roof of mouth & inside cheeks...where its hard to clean on an infant).Went to Dr today&he put baby back on Diflucan again and said if this doesn't clear it up we are going to test for Immune Disorders. So I was reading online&found that persistant thrush is a sign of SCID(Severe Combined Immunodeficiency or 'Boy in Bubble').Asked Dr what does the testing mean&what to do if we find something. He told me that we'd worry about it we come to that&try the medicine first. Seeing that persistant thrush(don't know if my baby is considered 'persistant')is a sign of Severe Combined Immunodeficiency should I worry if that's the only sign he's showing me?Should I just give him the medicine & not worry about SCID?All my friends think its just a hard to get rid of strain of thrush since baby is gaining weight & growing he's fine just its hard to get rid of thrush I'm not breastfeeding. Baby is bottle fed. I'm boiling his pacifiers, nipples & bottles for 5 minutes then when done placing them in a clean drain board that is only used for his stuff.
