Tongue Thrush

Can thrush only be on the tongue?

I was looking at my daughters tongue and she has a lot of white patches on it. There aren't any more anywhere else in her mouth, just her tongue. I was reading online that its normally not just on the tongue, but when I wipe hers, it doesn't wipe off. She eats well still, but I am wondering if any of your babies have had it and it was just on the tongue?

  1. It can appear on the tongue and the roof of the mouth
  2. I had it when I was 4 years old apparently. It was just on the tongue (:
  3. Thrush is an immune disorder. My son got it after his MMR shots because his immune system was overloaded. The doctor said to wait it out - there's not medicine. But I would suggest antioxidants - Blueberries, strawberries or Vitamin C, E and Glutathione (you can get this in a cream - for body not oral!).
  4. my daughter had thrush in the mouth when she was v young it was on the tongue, inside of her cheeks and roof of mouth
  5. It usually starts of the tongue, but can then spread to the roof of the mouth and down the throat. Once it starts spreading down the throat is usually when you start noticing a difference in eating habits. You can get something called "gentian violet" (not sure of the exact spelling) from your pharmacy that works wonders. It is bright purple and stains if spilled. She will look like she has been eating blueberries, but it will get rid of it. Just use a q-tip and swab her mouth with it.
  6. yeah - thats how it starts and then it spreads to the lips and checks.. :) get her some medicine! it takes about 2 weeks to clear up.
