Tongue Thrush

My baby's tounge looks sore?

My 4 month old baby has got red patches on her tongue and has had them for about 3 weeks, we went to the doctor as they looked sore and the doctor said it was a non specific viral infection and would clear up in about 7 - 10 days but this has not happened, it's not thrush as she had thrush when she was a few weeks old with a white tongue and we treated it and it never came back. The sores look a bit like popped blisters, is it possible that these have developed from sucking on her toys? I would appreciate any feedback as I have tried to research this topic but am unable to find anything, thanks

  1. My 14 month old has blister like things on her tongue, now on her lip and under her nose. I live in Europe so I cant tell you the name the doc gave me for it because I dont speak the language. But he said it is a herpes like viral infection that takes about 1 week to clear up. Antibiotics will not work but it is very painful. My daughter will not eat and hardly drinks. its only been about 5 days and we took her back to the doc today. He said this is the peak of it and it will start to get better. I dont know what kind of virus or infection cn not be treated with an antibiotic but this is very frusterating for me! Im sorry your daughter has a similar problem and that its lasted so long. I would take her into the ER if the doc doesnt give her something. Thats what we are doing if its not gone by monday. Good lck!
