Fluconazole as treatment of thrush in infants mouth?
My 7 weeks old baby boy has a trush in his tongue for a while now. I took him to his pediaterician about 15 days ago and prescribed Nystatin. Since I did not see any improvment, I called the doctor back and he prescribed him Fluconazole that needs to be taken for 13 days. Does anybody used this as treatment for trush in the mouth? How effective was it?

- Yes, Fluconazole treats the same bacteria as a yeast infection. That's what Thrush actually is...yeast infection of the mouth. I guarantee if it's a 13 day treatment, it will do the trick. Usually, unless it's a bad infections it's a 1-3 day treatment period MAX. Must be pretty bad, and that sucks. But I can also see him being so young that they wouldnt' give a max strength RX and smaller dosage would be needed, so maybe that's right. You might also look up a natural treatment website on treating Thrush. They usually provide good information on things like that.
